Why is the UK So Slow to Adopt New Technology?

The U.K. is slowly making advancements in technology but not at the rate of the US. The question is, why are the Brits slow to embrace http://www.direct.tv and other new technologies that are bound to make their lives easier? We’ve got a few ideas…
No Public Funding: Unlike in the US, Britain doesn’t throw a whole lot of money at technology. Government here is more focused on tangible goods for the commonwealth which sometimes leaves technology behind.< br />Lack of Think Tanks: In the US there’s Silicon Valley – Britain doesn’t really have a counterpart. Since people who know and love technology are so spread out here it’s much more difficult for huge, long term advancements to be made.
Traditionalism Wins: The United Kingdom has a long history of tradition and modernization is very slowly making its way through the nation. Everything from books to parliament is steeped in centuries of history and the Brits are often reluctant to change in fear they’ll risk losing part of their collective identity.
These are just a few of the thoughts we have on why the US is blowing Britain out of the water when it comes to new technological advancements.
