Five Smartphone Apps That Make Your Life Easier
Smartphones seem to be everywhere now a days, even if you don’t own one, you know someone who does. The growth of technology has given mobile access a height that it hadn’t seen before, allowing people to connect to others throughout the world, keep in contact with the office when not AT the office, as well as opening up new possibilities.
Here are five smartphone apps that will make your life easier.
1. Google – this is a broader app, as it includes all of the Google services, from Gmail to Google Calendar to even Google Voice. While you may think that this is geared toward Android users, Google is available on a variety of platforms from iPhones to Blackberry. And the best part – completely free.
2. Where/Yelp – Where is a great app for those who travel, as it not only gives you the local weather and traffic, but the best places to sleep and eat. User reviews can be found for certain places and you can write your own review as well. Yelp is another app like Where, but uses user reviews to state the best and worst places to go.
3. Social Networks – now that you have a smartphone, you should consider getting in on that whole social network scene. If you’re already on the scene, then you’ll have your pick of not only the official apps, but those that will combine them all. TweetDeck and HootSuite are popular all in one apps, while Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace have official apps.
4. Evernote – Evernote is a free app for both smartphones and computers, even has an online app. Have you ever had a thought and didn’t have a pen or paper to write down? That’s what Evernote is. It’s a note taker, but you can also clip webpages (with handy browser extensions), take photos and put them in notes, etc. Never be without a notepad again.
5. Finance – finance apps are important, especially when out and about and needing to know where the local ATM is. Many of the major banks, like Chase, have an official app; PayPal also has one if you send and receive through their service; and then there’s Mint, which combines all of your finances in one app that can be seen on your phone and desktop.
These of course are just five apps and services that you can have on your smartphone; there are many others that will either be stock or easily download. The only limit is what you feel you need.
